The June 16, 2009 meeting was held in the basement in the Newton Public Library. The meeting was called to order at 7:15pm by President Mike Harvey. Present were Joe N0LQT, Dan K0FNI, Russell KD0HTF, Jeanne KD0HTE, And Mike AB0TX.

Due to low attendance, minutes were not read. Mike had a printed copy of Mays minutes and they were used as talking points for the meeting. Mike gave a report of the status of the repeater and mentioned that he took the other 146.610 GE Master II in to the shop of repair. They told him they would take a look at it next week as they were running a week behind. Mike got a receipt this time on gear out for repair! He mentioned that that afternoon he had adjusted the receiver on the repeater with Russell, KD0HTF and the sensitivity was doing very well. Russell was able to talk into the repeater on mid power from his home just South of Hillsboro. Earlier in the day, Russell was using 50 watts from East Lake so a good improvement was made. Mike got to talk on the repeater to Justin Reed who has the UHF box in the tower and said he seemed like a very nice guy. Justin lives up at Minneapolis Kansas and is building the K-link linking system on UHF.

Field Day 2009 was discussed and Mike again stated his bringing his Elecraft K2 and assorted antennas for the CW station. He has not made a decision on where at Stutzmans he will set the station up. He has a tent but the air conditioning at the cabin is very inviting. He will also be setting up PSK31 digital again this year for anyone who wants to try the mode. Dan said he was bringing his Icom IC-756 and a few antennas as well. Set up will be pending on how early we can get into the retreat. Friday would be preferable as we can start at noon on Friday at the earliest. Dress for the weather! Russell KD0HTF said he had a trailer that had solar panels mounted and would charge batteries if we wanted to go that route and it sounded very interesting. The only batteries the club owns is on the repeater so that may be an interesting option in the future.

Mike gave a run down on the activities at the Hamcom Hamfest in Plano Texas. The event was a lot of fun and he got to meet with Shawn Kelley, W5SPK and talk to him about how things are going down there. Most of the major radio manufactures were there as well as many other dealers and distributors. The were lot of goodies in the tailgate market outside as well.

Dan mentioned that the annual sidewalk sale at derby was coming up on Saturday the 20th which is this weekend. Russell KD0HTF and his wife Jeanne KD0HTE, talked about attending the Pyrotechnics Club get together where manufactures create new fireworks and demonstrate them and they said they have a very good time there.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50pm.
