The September 15, 2009 meeting was held in the Newton Public Library. The meeting was called to order at 7:13pm by Vice-President Joe Palmer. Present were Howard Banks, David Duerksen, David Godshall, Jeanne and Russell Groves, Dan Inskeep, Joe Palmer, and Kent Stutzman. Minutes: The August Minutes were read and approved with the corrected membership listing. Repeater: While Mike was again not here to report on the repeater repairs, Dan and Kent confirmed that Kent received the second repeater back from tuning and they believe Mike is planning on placing it back into operation to replace the current temporary repeater, which does not have the sensitivity of the regular one. Kansas QSO Party: The Kansas QSO Party last weekend of August was a success. Kent has received and processed 111 electronic log submissions and 10 hand-written ones. Randy Wing and Bob are currently working on figuring out the prize and award recipients. MCC Flatlanders Bike Ride: David passed out maps and explained how the ride works. Jeanne and Russel Groves will man the SAG 1 station starting at 8am, and possibly head to SAG 4 when they are done either 1, David will do SAG2, and Dan will do SAG 5. Ray Franz expressed interest in helping and David will find out if he will be interested in manning SAG 3. Kent Stutzman will be net control from home; his number in the event of repeater malfunction, is 316-283-1305. Due to sensitivity problems with the current 146.61 repeater, the Hesston College 145.21 repeater will be the primary, with the Newton 146.61 being the backup, and 146.52 the simplex backup. Miscellaneous Topics: globaltuners.com has remote-control receivers accessible through the Internet. Upcoming events: Officer elections coming up November (nominations) and December (elections), Sweepstakes in November, and Newton Festival of Lights in December. Meeting adjourned at 8:00pm. -- David Godshall, Secretary/Treasurer |
